About the Sitar MakerThis Sitar is hand crafted by an experienced sitar maker Manu Ji of Maharaja Musicals. Manu ji is a third generation sitar maker from Miraj and now works exclusivelywith us in our workshop.About SitarSitar is as unique and fascinating instrument as the music it creates. There are different types of sitars and the construction of a quality sitar differs for each type. Making of sitar is a complex process. These instruments are crafted by experienced sitar 'makers' or 'fitters'.The neck, faceplate, and gourd of the finely-crafted sitar are typically constructed of a combination of mahogany and teak wood, and its bridges are made from materials such as deer horn, ebony, or even camel bone, although synthetic materials are also used in modern times, often to lesser effect albeit. Expert sitar makers string the instrument with a bridge through the process of optimizing the sitar's tonal quality called jawari, and then allow the instrument rest for around a week to allow the neck to bend slightly. This is done so that it settles in before the sympathetic peg holes are drilled, which ensures that the fret setting is accurate and done correctly.About This Sitar: Kharaj Pancham Teak Wood Sitar - AIB ModelSitar is as unique and fascinating instrument as the music it creates.
